The Toronto Tango Experience (TTX)

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Where are the milongas held

All the milongas (and meals) for the TTX are in the beautiful main ballroom of the SPK Polish Hall in the heart of the University of Toronto district. It is fully air-conditioned and has a wonderful wooden floor for excellent dancing. It can accommodate over 300 people and is fully licensed if you would like to have a glass of wine at the milongas or during the meals.

What are the dates for the Toronto Tango Experience

The TTX starts with a pre-festival milonga on Wednesday July 10, 2013 and finishes on Sunday July 15, 2013. Have you always wanted to visit Toronto but could not believe the hotel prices. Come earlier or stay later and explore the city.

What's so great about Toronto

Toronto was named by UNESCO as the most multicultural city in the world. The Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) is having a once in a lifetime display of over 150 masterpieces by Pablo Picasso. The Art Gallery is less than a 5 minutes walk from the TTX. The Royal Ontario Museum are less than a 10 minute walk. The trendy Yorkville shopping area is just a 15 minute walk. The world famous Niagara Falls is just one hour away.

Is this area safe

Toronto is considered to be one of the safest cities in the world. There are many people walking alone in this area at all times of day and night. Of course, nothing is 100% safe, so you should always be careful

What about parking

There is free parking for approximately 80 cars from Friday 6pm July 12th until Monday July 15 at 6am. Free parking after 9pm on Beverley St (paid parking before). There is also paid public parking (underground) for over 280 cars within a 5 minute walk (213 Huron St.) for a rate of $20 per day (or $6 evening rate) on weekdays and $6 per day on Saturday and Sunday

Where do I sleep

We have made arrangements at a local yoga studio (within a 5 minute walk) to let attendees sleep overnight at their premises. Bring a sleeping mat and sleeping bag or rent a sleeping mat, pillow and blanket for $5 per night. Soap, shampoo and other personal toiletries will be available for purchase at cost price.

Are there any private rooms?

We have also made arrangements with the University of Toronto to have private rooms (with shared bathrooms) available in one of their Student Residences, but these are limited, and they are about a 15 minute walk. However there are also many full service hotels and hostels in the area. Contact us for a full list of nearby accomodations.

Is there access to the Internet

There is a Wi-Fi public hotspot at the SPK Polish Hall, however you need a Boingo account (www.boingo.com) to use it. The current cost for a Boingo account is $10 per month for unlimited usage and there is no contract.
